In preparation for your excursion, please remember your Captain is working a SERVICE INDUSTRY JOB.  Here In California that means that you are expected to leave a 10 – 20% gratuity (of your total bill, just like you would for a restaurant server) based on the Quality of Service you feel you have received.

In other words, the gratuity is not included in your bill.  Cash is preferable onboard.  If you forget cash and want to have a gratuity added to your card on file the day of your trip, you’ll need to tell the Captain to do this for you at least 1 hour prior to the conclusion of your trip. The Captain cannot process card information at the docks and the captain cannot add a gratuity to any card other than the one you initially made your reservation with.
